The Colors are Always More Vibrant on the Other End of the Spectrum

3.6.2013

Last Thursday we found out the sex of our Jigglypuff. Yes, last Thursday, I know, I've been lazy. We're having a girl! Which is what we were hoping for! Bust out the nasty pink bubblegum cigars! We've got a name picked out already too, she's going to be Rena Fae (unless we change our minds, which I don't think we will).

I've also gotten another job, finally. It's full-time with insurance for both of us, then the three of us later. It's about a $3 pay increase per hour, rotating four 10-hour shifts then three days off. All I need to do is go in for a physical and orientation, and I'm good. I hope I like this job. Who am I kidding? Compared to my current job, this one will be much more enjoyable. I turned in my two week notice at my current job which I've been working at for five and a half years, which was also my first job. So needless to say, I'm stressed in many different ways. But with the silver lining starting to shine in the clouds once again, I can't help but confirm that I'm looking on the bright side of life.

Igglybuff Always Evolves Into Jigglypuff When Friendship is High

2.2.2013

Thursday we had our first doctor's appointment and first ultrasound and found out we are 15 weeks instead of 12, looks like our Igglybuff evolved into a Jigglypuff and we didn't even know it!

These images depict either an alien baby or Christopher Nolan's Bane

We were given a new due date of July 25, 2013 (our old due date was August 14, 2013). This is great, because we have so many family and friends whose birthdays are in August.

During the ultrasound our Jigglypuff seemingly waved at us, it was really cute. Jigglypuff looked really chill and relaxed inside of mommy. The ultrasound tech found Jigglypuff almost immediately, it was a very surreal experience for me. We won't know the gender until the next doctor's appointment on the 28th.

We got a bunch of pamphlets and "What to Expect When You're Expecting" for free. I was a little amused at one of the papers which used the word 'ensconced', how many people know what that word means? Strange choice of words.

I feel much more connected to Jigglypuff now that I can see her/him. Jigglypuff has reminded me to always look on the bright side of life!

Graveler Always Evolves into a Golem on the Other Side of the Trade

1.20.2013

Thursday we went to New Beginnings Maternity Care to set up a doctor's appointment with Medicaid. We left with a ton of magazines and other various pamphlets of information on babies. Our doctor's appointment is at 12 weeks and 1 day, we'll finally get to see our Igglybuff. We decided to nickname s/he after a Pokemon, yes. Igglybuff during the first trimester, Jigglypuff during the second, and Wigglytuff during the third. Why? Because we're nerds like that. We decided that when we transition into the third we're going to fashion a moon stone (What is used to evolve Jigglypuff into a Wigglytuff in the games/anime/manga) and take a picture with Lyndsay's belly and the 'moon stone' and say "What? Jigglypuff is evolving! Congratulations, your Jigglypuff evolved into a Wigglytuff!" in a Pokemon-esque way. We have Pokeanimals too. We have two turtles, Squirtle and Shelly (Shellos); we had three mice that passed away, Pichu, Minun, and Plusle; and Pumpkin's middle name is Houndour; so naturally, we went with a Pokemon name for our child as well. Not when s/he's born though, that would be too weird...

There's also been a lot of family drama going on that I sincerely wish would stop, but alas, the drama is a never-ending cycle. I wish everyone could just get along with each other and stop being so self-centered. All of this has gotten me remembering to always look on the bright side of life.

The Jello is Always More Frozen in the Back of the Refrigerator

1.3.2013

I've slacked off in my blog-posting as of late, so here's one for the new year!

I say goodbye to 2012 like a flea on a dog in a flea bath. 2012 was not a good year in general for me, so I'm more than happy to embrace 2013. I'm taking my coldest memories of 2012 and building a bonfire to rinse my hands of them all. After this past year, I'm glad to have the best wife I could ever ask for by my side to get me through the hardest, most uncertain parts of myself and my life. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Oh, Christmas, that's right. So what did we get each other? Lyndsay got me a Batman long-sleeved shirt, a Batman beanie, and a Batman glass with a cape. This one. I got her a massaging pillow, a water bottle that has a filter much like this one, and Batman: Arkham Asylum for the PS3. Yes, we like Batman a lot. It's simple pleasures like these that remind me to always look on the bright side of life.
